On September 21st at approximately 5:15 PM Central Time, CivicPlus observed a large increase in network traffic. It was immediately determined to be a large Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) and Data Center engineers began to implement DDoS Mitigation Services and other measures to ensure services remained online. The goal of this DDoS attack was for the sole purpose of taking sites offline. This attack did not compromise our systems or result in any data loss.

The mitigation services were fully implemented by 5:45 PM and disruption in access to CivicPlus sign on was observed beginning at 6 PM. Adjustments were made and all sign on access was restored by 6:23 PM.

This DDoS attack exceeded 45Gb/sec and still in progress. CivicPlus is monitoring the situation and will continue to implement countermeasures to ensure sites remain online.

If you have any questions, or you’re having any issues related to the DDoS mitigation services, please contact support.
