Incident Report - CivicPlus Authentication - March 5, 2024
On March 4 at 4:46 pm, CivicPlus Engineers detected a performance issue that was potentially affecting users’ ability to sign in to CivicPlus Authentication, which provides single sign-on to our CivicPlus products. Concurrently, CivicPlus Support began to receive reports that users were unable to sign-in.
CivicPlus Engineers immediately began investigating and attempting to resolve the issue. It was discovered that a recent change to a network security policy was inadvertently applied to the CivicPlus.com domain, which resulted in permission failures on CivicPlus Authentication API endpoints and inhibited users’ ability to sign in successfully.
At 5:19 pm, CivicPlus Site Reliability Engineers reverted the policy and Authentication immediately resumed expected functionality allowing users to sign-in successfully.
As a result of this issue, CivicPlus will exclude the civicplus.com domain from the policies that deployed to client WAF’s wholesale improve application identification to allow for whitelisting in WAF policies.
