    Incident Report: Service Disruption on 11/20/2023 

    Incident Description:
    On November 20, 2023, CivicPlus monitoring services detected a service disruption for the Web Central Recaptcha service. The alert was immediately sent to the engineering staff who identified the root cause of the issue and started working on resolving it. The efforts of CivicPlus System Engineers led to the resumption of the Web Central Recaptcha service.

    Cause:
    It has been determined that the disruption was caused by an updated version of the Recaptcha service used by CivicPlus Engineers. The new version did not include some domains that were present in the previous version, which went unnoticed during testing as the default testing domains were included.

    Resolution:
    The CivicPlus Engineers worked on updating the new Recaptcha service to include all the known domains to resolve the issue.

    Preventative Measures:
    CivicPlus Engineers have updated the Recaptcha service documentation to avoid similar incidents in the future. We believe that this change will adequately address the root cause of this incident, and no further updates are planned.
