    CivicPlus Incident Report: Performance Issue on 11/17/2023 

    Incident Description
    On November 17, 2023 CivicPlus monitoring alerted engineering staff of a performance issue that was affecting the sign-in experience for CivicPlus solution Municpal Website Central. CivicPlus System Engineers immediately identified the root cause of the issue and initiated steps to resolve the issue. 

    Cause
    A temporary failure in DNS resolution resulted in a much longer event of users unable to successfully login.

    Resolution
    CivicPlus engineers deployed a script clearing the application cache, allowing users to sign in to the service and return to expected functionality.

    Preventative Measures
    CivicPlus engineers have implemented additional monitoring for several components in the DNS request chain, intending to identify the source of any DNS resolution timeouts or failures.
